the deadline's today...srry, for those ppl who wanted to enter... i just found out bout this 2 days ago...OTL

redoing an old pic was harder than i thought!
it feels kinda restrictive. but than again, i don't have to worry about the composition and stuff XDD
it was interesting to revisit an old work tho. My skills really needed a lot of polishing then >w<

edit: as u can see, this is more of a semi-realism style than my usual anime style. i was experimenting~ it was painful, but fun~
the water was a challenge. i was confused on how i should start >_<
i also struggled a bit with clothing. Since it's so plain, i had to make the folds look nice.. and it was hard; the lighting threw me off for one thing.
leaves were also painstakingly long to do... y in the world did i drew leaves in my old pic in the first place??

ok i should stop complaining..

Oh wow; Just how do you get that paint style? It's SO GORGEOUS :icondroolplz:

Seriously; it's glossy and the colors are blended but not forcibly blurred. It just makes the picture so beautiful.

Wow, that looks a lot better than your old version. You definatly got better ^W^

Hm, where is the light coming form in this pic? Normally when i'm working on shading i put an object wherever the light is coming from, then you can tell where the light would hit most. Its a good trick my art teacher thought me ^W^

This is so pretty. Light can come from all sorts of places, so it's hard to place it.
I love the way the arched wall is done now. The leaves are so much better too.
I can't help but wonder how you make your pictures have this nice painted look. :o
You're definitely better at water now, though the water from before was good too.
His face is so much more smooth and has better depth now. ^^
You've really improved in a year.

SAI~ =v= )v SAI can really acheive that painterly feel with ease~ i just use a combo of brush and airbrush~

i almost NEVER blur my pics~ it really ruins the blendy feel. (but it's good for realism : D )

well primary lit source is from the brit water but there's a weak secondary source, located somewhere off to the left of the pic.
o ya, i tried that method too, but i just suck at lighting..i need more practice.
